What Makes Silolis Better?

Have you ever bought an anal training set and spent time using it, only to find that you weren't any closer to feeling prepared for anal sex? Many people assume that any set labeled β€œanal training” will prepare their body, but most of these kits aren’t actually designed to help you stretch safely or effectively.

Let’s break down why most anal training sets fall short and what makes Silolis better.

The Problem with Plug-Only Anal Training

Most anal training kits on the market consist of three to five butt plugs that increase in size. At first glance, that seems logical- start small, work up. But here’s what they don’t tell you:

1. Butt Plugs Aren’t Designed for Stretching

The key issue is the shape of a traditional butt plug. Once the bulb of the plug is inserted, the sphincter relaxes around the narrow neck, not the widest part of the toy. So your body isn't being trained to stay open at your goal size, it’s adapting to something much smaller.

The result? You think you’re ready for anal sex… until you try and it hurts. That’s because your muscles were never properly stretched at the right diameter.

2. The Size Jumps Are Often Too Large

Most cheap sets increase in diameter too quickly, usually more than 0.25” between sizes. That might not seem like much, but for a delicate muscle like the sphincter, it’s a huge leap. Your body needs gradual, consistent stretching to avoid discomfort or injury.

3. Poor Materials, Poor Outcomes

Another major flaw in many sets is the use of unsafe materials. Many toys are made with porous or chemically unstable plastics and rubbers that can harbor bacteria or even leach toxins. If a toy smells like chemicals, that’s not a feature, it’s a warning sign.

At Silolis we've created a better way...

The Silolis System

Our patent pending system pairs traditional butt plugs with a new innovation: coordinated wands.

The coordinated wands and plugs have matching max girths. Using these pieces together solves the problems of inefficient and uncomfortable stretching described above.

The Magic of Wands

In the Silolis system, the wands do the stretching rather than the plugs. Using a wand before a plug (and plenty of water based lube) allows you to slowly stretch to the max girth and hold it for a few minutes while your muscles relax. Once your muscles feel nice and relaxed, you can comfortably insert the associated plug. It will slide in easily as you've already adjusted to its max girth. The purpose of the plug is to maintain most of your progress as you go about your day, until you are ready to try for the next size....

When it's time to try for the next size, our wands have another trick up their sleeve- a "knot" towards the top that matches the max girth of the previous plug. Because wearing a plug allows your body to adjust to the narrower neck girth of the plug, this knot gives you the opportunity to get comfortable with the size you've already worked up to before going bigger. Once the knot feels nice and comfortable, you're ready to move through a brief reprieve that we call the "shaft," and then on to your next max girth. The wand will allow you to slowly stretch to the next size up, and when you can take its max girth comfortably, you'll know that you've leveled up and are ready to easily take the associated plug.

The visual below uses colored lines to illustrate how the max girths of the different pieces coordinate with one another. The max girth of wand 1 (shown in pink) equals the max girth of plug 1, which equals the knot girth of wand 2, and so on.

Why Wand-Based Stretching Works Better

Instead of inserting a bulb and letting your body contract down to a narrow neck, a wand-style dilator allows you to rest at the widest point of the toy, training your sphincter to gently open and relax at your largest comfortable girth.

Wands = Active Stretching

The slow glide and pause of a wand mimic the natural progression of penetration. They offer real, dynamic dilation,Β which is exactly what your body needs to become comfortable with a partner's size.Β

Plugs = Progress Maintenance

Plugs are still useful, but they should be used toΒ hold progress between wand sessions, not to make the progress in the first place. Think of them as the β€œretainer” after orthodontics.

What to Look for in an Effective Anal Training Set

Here’s what separates a toy set that collects dust in your drawer from one that actually works:

1. Gradual Sizing

No more than a 0.25” increase in diameter between pieces. Your body deserves slow and steady progress, not forceful stretching.

2. Wands + Plugs

A true training set should include wand-style dilators for active stretching and matching plugs for holding dilation throughout the day.

3. Body-Safe, Non-Porous Materials

Look for toys made from platinum cure silicone, borosilicate glass, or stainless steel. Avoid anything jelly-like, rubbery, or unlabelled. Click HERE to read more about body safe sex toys.

4. Anal-Safe Design

Every toy should have a flared base wider than the widest insertable section, this prevents full insertion into the rectum, which can be dangerous.

5. Sizing Based on Real Bodies

The goal of training is often to prepare for a partner or specific toy. That means the final size should match that goal, not just β€œlarge” for the sake of it. Our system is designed using real-world data about penis girth to help you train with purpose. Click HERE to read more about our sizing.

A Bit About Sizing

We've created a page dedicated to sizing, and hope you'll check it out! We've made every effort to create a system that will work for almost any body. We have standard length wands, as well as long wands for people who enjoy a deeper experience. In addition, our wands and plugs were developed to coordinate with actual penial girth statistics, and they span the range from the first percentile all the way to 99.99th percentile! Check out our detailed sizing guide to find the right set for your body!

A Few More Details About Our Products

All of our plugs and wands have flared bases that are larger than the largest insertable part of the piece. The flared bases prevent the toys from being accidentally fully inserted into the anus, making them safe for anal use.

All of our products are made in the USA with 100% platinum-cure silicone. Click HERE to learn more about how they're made.

Platinum-cure silicone is non-porous, body safe, and easy to clean. It is the highest grade of silicone available. Click HERE to learn more about body-safe materials.

We recommend using water based lube with our products; silicone based lube is incompatible with silicone toys and can cause damage to the toy. Click HERE to learn more about care and cleaning.
